1.

Antica Fundrò

The area located south of the municipal territory of Enna presents the remains, which have never been investigated, of an ancient center destroyed at the end of the 14th century and linked to the subsequent life of the two neighboring state-owned cities, Enna and Piazza, which were named "half-barons of Fundrò". The remains of the ancient homonymous abbey still remain on the site, which was later transferred to Piazza, and in the valleys of the streams that descend from the height, there are several mills.

Boschi della Musa

A vast wooded area with relics of a cork oak forest, once the site of a renowned production, is today also affected by reforestation with eucalyptus. Wedged between the courses of the Salso Cimarosa on one side and the River Cerami on the other, it culminates to the south in the Timpa di Sarro range.

3.

Canyon Serieri Cateratta

Along the San Giovannello Valley, also known erroneously as Torcicoda, the waters have carved a deep canyon in the thick banks of ocher calcarenite from the Pliocene. Despite being a short distance from the town of Enna, the landscape here is extremely wild. The valley is characterized by small rapids, passages in the gorge, and various testimonies of human presence, such as abandoned mills and the vast and spectacular San Tommaso shelter.

4.

Monte Altesina

The Altesina Mount is the highest peak of the Erei Mountains. Covered by a dense natural forest dominated by holm oaks, the mountain holds evidence of a long human presence since the Bronze Age. It is very interesting to note the presence of a Shahada, the profession of faith engraved in Arabic characters, on the remains of the upper part. In the woods, one can also find the restored Altesinella farmhouse, the remains of the Convent of Sant'Erasmo or of Santa Maria di Lartisina, and various rocky necropolis areas with cave tombs. Noteworthy wildlife includes rare species such as the sparrowhawk and the wild cat.

Realmese e Malpasso

"In the territory of Calascibetta, there are several pre- and proto-historic necropolises, hundreds of tombs dug into the limestone rock, some of which are isolated, while others are gathered in very numerous groups. The largest is that of Realmese, in the San Giuseppe district, which can be dated back to the Bronze Age and can be easily visited. Not far from this is the Malpasso area, where there are some underground tombs dating back to the Copper Age and pertinent to a civilization that was precisely defined as Malpasso."

6.

Villaggio Bizantino

This rupestrian archaeological area consists of various residential nuclei entirely dug out of the rock, and used from the Bronze Age up to the last century. It opens onto the limestone walls of the Canalotto valley and takes advantage of a perennial source of fresh water. The distribution of the underground rooms on multiple levels is spectacular.
