In the countryside of Villarosa, along an old royal drovers' road (Trazzera), stands a seventeenth-century aristocratic palace whose forms seem entirely at odds with its rural setting. Known as the Ducal Palace of S. Anna alle Stanzie, it is what remains of a failed attempt to found a fief. Privately owned, the palace is used as a farmstead and can be partly visited by asking the present owners. Within its grounds stand the ruined chapel of Sant'Anna and some large underground rooms, most likely to be interpreted as sizeable grain silos.
