E-bike Tour: Floristella, sulphur mines

A 13 km loop e-bike tour in the Floristella Mining Park, an open-air museum of Sicily's sulphur heritage, among shafts, kilns and woodland.

Floristella is one of the most significant sites of industrial archaeology in Southern Italy; the mining park is described as 'an open-air museum of industrial archaeology' and is one of the most striking, history-laden settings of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Geopark. Retracing the history of central Sicily's mining civilisation, amid tales and anecdotes of life in the mine and of the 'surfarara' (sulphur miners), we will pedal past shafts, furnaces and descent tunnels; the route winds through a dense woodland that offers moments of pure fun in an off-road ride accessible to everyone!

Requirements & gear

Recommended minimum age 10 years, or in any case a height of over 150 cm. Child seats available for children up to 20 kg. Comfortable clothing and trainers. All our excursions are accompanied by a certified environmental and hiking guide (A.I.G.A.E.)

Getting there & accessibility

Loop route: length 13 km. Reachable by bicycle, by car/motorbike, by taxi/shuttle. The meeting point will be agreed upon at the time of booking.
