E-bike Tour: Pergusa – Floristella Mining Park

From the shores of the lake we will climb up to the site of Cozzo Matrice, a natural terrace overlooking Lake Pergusa which will take us on a true journey into the myth of Demeter and Kore. We will then move on to Floristella, one of the most significant sites of industrial archaeology in Southern Italy. Retracing the history of central Sicily's mining civilisation, amid tales and anecdotes of life in the mine and of the 'surfarara' (sulphur miners), we will pedal past shafts, furnaces and descent tunnels; the route winds through a dense woodland that offers moments of pure fun in an off-road ride accessible to everyone.
