The never-excavated remains of an ancient settlement destroyed in the late 14th century, with its old abbey (later moved to Piazza) and mills in the stream valleys.
The area, located to the south of the municipal territory of Enna, holds the never-investigated remains of an ancient settlement destroyed at the end of the 14th century and linked to the later life of the two neighbouring royal-demesne towns, Enna and Piazza, whose lords were named "half-barons of Fundrò". On the site there still remain the ruins of the ancient abbey of the same name, later moved to Piazza, and, in the valleys of the streams descending from the height, several mills.
Getting there
It is reached by travelling along the Strada Regionale 8 Balatella–Vallegrande. It can be reached by bicycle and by car/motorbike. Address: Strada Regionale 8 Balatella Vallagrande, Enna.
Access & visits
Open every day of the year. Suitable for families with children (a guide is required). Required equipment: comfortable clothing suited to the season, backpack, trekking shoes, 1.5 l water bottle. Recommended equipment: rain poncho, binoculars, camera, trekking poles.
