An archaeological area above the Pergusa basin, with remains of a large Hellenised indigenous centre from the Copper Age to the Classical era and a vast sacred temenos.
An archaeological area managed by the Archaeological Park of Morgantina and of the Villa del Casale. Set on one of the heights forming the basin of Pergusa Lake, it holds the traces of a large Hellenised indigenous settlement that flourished from the Copper Age to the Classical period. Here lie the remains of a vast sacred temenos in a breathtaking landscape that takes in much of the island.
Getting there
It is reached from the Pergusa Village via the Monte Salerno local road. It can be reached by bicycle and by car/motorbike. Address: Strada Vicinale Monte Salerno, Enna.
Access & visits
Contact the Park or the Geopark. Suitable for families with children (a guide is required). Required equipment: comfortable clothing suited to the season, backpack, trekking shoes, 1.5 l water bottle. Recommended equipment: rain poncho, binoculars, camera, trekking poles.
