Sulphur and ancestral rites: Monte Gaspa

The non-profit cultural association Hisn al-Giran was founded in Calascibetta in July 2011, out of a shared desire to promote and enhance the Calascibetta area through excursions and cultural events. Monte Gaspa is a vast archaeological area, thanks to the presence of remains ranging from the Neolithic to the medieval period. It is a route that begins at the late-antique necropolis, with its tombs set in a magnificent conifer wood, and continues, stopping first at a chamber tomb and then at a megalithic rock, a likely testament to ancient religious cults.
